Members have considered the 114 amendments tabled and have voted on the draft report by Ms. E.Vozemberg (EPP). Since the careers of women in the research area are marked by strong vertical segregation – with only one in ten rectors in Europe being a woman – and since women abandoning their scientific careers represent a loss of human potential, the draft report proposes several initiatives to be taken by the Commission and the Member States in order to tackle the situation. The final report was adopted with 30 votes for and one vote against.
