2027 L’Oréal–UNESCO, International Awards in Physical Sciences, Mathematics and Computer science
Honoring outstanding women researchers in Physical Sciences, Mathematics, and Computer Science. The L’Oréal–UNESCO For Women in Science programme has officially opened nominations for its 2027 International Awards, recognizing exceptional women scientists whose research is advancing knowledge and innovation worldwide. This edition will honor five outstanding researchers working in Physical Sciences, Mathematics, and Computer Science. One laureate will be selected from each major world region: Africa and the Arab States, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and North America. Each award recipient will receive €100,000 in recognition of her scientific achievements.
Since its launch in 1998, the For Women in Science programme has celebrated pioneering women researchers and helped increase the visibility of women in STEM. The awards recognize scientific excellence, the impact of research, and contributions to the broader scientific community.
Nominations can be submitted by qualified scientific leaders and institutions worldwide. Self-nominations are not accepted. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2026, and the laureates will be honored at a ceremony at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris in June 2027. By highlighting the achievements of leading women scientists, the L’Oréal–UNESCO For Women in Science International Awards continue to inspire future generations and promote greater gender equality in research and innovation.
