Jentedagen NTNU
Girls' Day at Norwegian Technical University in Trondheim
Technical University in Trondheim
In Norway, the number of girls going for a tech career is rapidly growing thanks to the massive campaign the number one technical university NTNU in Trondheim has carried out in a ten-year period.
In 2005 there were 416 women among primary applicants for civil engineering studies. This year the number of applicants is 1202!
In Iceland, the Girls in ICT Day also marked the beginning of a partnership between ECWT – The European Centre for Women and Technology and Reykjavik University, that will manage the activities of ECWT’s National Point of Contact (N-PoC) in Iceland. It is the hope that this day will be an annual event in Iceland and that it will help bring more girls into ICT-related careers in the future.
