Inspiring Women Leaders in the Digital Era
Last week in Madrid, the Madrid Startup House group held its first event: “Inspiring Women Leaders in the Digital Era”. It took place at the IE Business School in collaboration with the European Commission, Startup Europe, the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, Area 31- IE Business School, Correos, Ferrovial, Gas Natural, Mujeres a Seguir, Microsoft Siemens, and Telefónica Open Future.
The event was opened by Lucía Cerón, Director of the Institute for Women and for Equal Opportunities, who stressed the importance of institutional and personal support for these kinds of initiatives in order to support and transform society so that it is more socially and economically responsible, for which women undoubtedly need to be integrated. She also emphasized the fact that girls need to be pushed towards future careers in science and ICT.
Thereafter, the President of Madrid Startup House, Teresa Alarcos, presented the mission of MSH, which is to make Madrid and its area of influence a global reference for digital entrepreneurship, acting in three areas:
– inspiring digital talent;
– attracting investors and
– inspiring female entrepreneurs.
Participating organizations included: Asociación Española de Mujeres Empresarias de Madrid, Asociación Española de Ejecutivas y Consejeras – EJECON, FEDEPE, Mujeres Avenir, MujeresTech y Aliados, Spain Alumni Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, Women CEO, Women Corporate Directors, W50 – UCLA Anderson, , representatives from companies such as Gas Natural, Telefónica Open Future, Mckinsey & Company, China Spain Innovation Ventures, Ideas4all Innovation, Intelygenz; and independent advisers such as Laura Molero, Isabel Torremocha and Sarah Harmon, CEO Sira Pérez de la Coba, CEO Laura Lozano Lominchar.
CEO Macarena Estévez, Noela González, co-founder of Natac LLC, CEO Izanami Martínez, CEO Amrita Shekon, Pilar Troncoso, María Luisa Izquierdo, the Human Resources Manager at Microsoft, Sarah Harmon, the Director or LinkedIn in Spain and Portugal.
